Access and sales information

Please tell me how to get there from the station.
It is about a 15-minute walk from the central exit of Kyoto Station, or about a 7-minute walk from Umekoji Kyoto-nishi Station on the JR Sanin Main Line. -
Please tell me how to get there by bus.
The nearest bus stop is "Shichijo Omiya/Kyoto Aquarium Mae" on Kyoto City Bus, Keihan Kyoto Kotsu, and West Japan JR Bus.

Is there parking available?
No. Please walk or use public transportation such as the bus. -
Is there a parking lot nearby for groups?
There is no dedicated parking lot for Kyoto Aquarium.
The large bus rotary and boarding/disembarking area within Umekoji Park can be used as a boarding/disembarking space for large buses.
*Umekoji Park has parking space for 26 large buses, but it is not exclusively for Kyoto Aquarium use. -
Are there any days when the museum is closed?
We are open all year round. However, we may be closed temporarily for facility inspections, etc. -

When and where can I buy tickets?
We recommend purchasing your online ticket in advance. Tickets can be purchased 30 days before your planned visit. (Webket membership registration required. Click here for details .)
Tickets are not sold at the counter. Please use the ticket vending machine. -
Please tell me how to get admission at the high school student rate.
High school students must present their student ID card at the ticket counter or entrance. -
Are there discounts for people with disabilities?
Those who present a disability certificate and one accompanying person will receive half the admission price (rounded to the nearest yen) of the general admission price.
Additionally, for annual passes, one person with a disability certificate will be admitted at half price. -
From what age do I need an admission ticket?
Admission tickets are required for children aged 3 and over.

Can I use credit cards or electronic money?
The cards and electronic money that can be used vary depending on the purchase method.

Can I use gift certificates?
Gift certificates cannot be used to purchase admission tickets.
Only children's gift certificates can be used at the museum shop on the 1st floor and the stuffed animal lottery on the 2nd floor.
Other gift certificates cannot be used in shops or cafes.

About Annual Passports

Where can I purchase an Annual Pass?
[If you wish to purchase a card-type annual passport]
Please follow the steps below to purchase your Annual Pass.
①Please pay for your annual pass at the ticket counter.
*High school students must present their student handbook.
② Please register your user information and take a photo at the annual passport registration PC next to the ticket counter.
③After registration and photo shoot are complete, a card-type annual passport will be issued and handed to you.[If you would like a digital annual passport]
You can purchase a new Webket annual passport . It is valid for one year from your first visit.
When you visit, please log in using your smartphone browser and present the screen of your annual passport with the 2D barcode.*Please purchase using your smartphone.
*If you do not have a smartphone or have an annual passport exchange voucher, please come to the ticket counter. You will be issued a card-type annual passport. -
Do I need to show identification when purchasing an Annual Pass?
No, but high school students must present their student handbook. -
Can I get a refund for my Annual Passport, change the name on it, give it away, or lend it to someone else?
Passports are valid only for the holder. Fees cannot be refunded, the name cannot be changed, and the passport cannot be transferred or lent. -
What happens if I forget my Annual Pass?
If you forget your passport, you will be charged the regular admission price. -
I have a card-type Annual Passport. Can I change it to a digital Annual Passport?
Transfers cannot be made within the expiration date.
After the expiration date, please purchase a new Webket annual passport . -
When I purchase a new Digital Annual Passport, what are the expiration dates?
Once purchased, the pass is valid for one year from your first visit.

Admission and tour information

Please tell me how long it takes to view the exhibit.
It depends on the client, but it usually takes about 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours. -
Can I re-enter?
When re-entering, please present your ticket at the entrance. -
Can I bring my own lunch? Is there a place to eat my lunch?
You can bring in food and drinks such as packed lunches and snacks, but please take your trash with you.
Please use the benches in the Fur Seal, Seal, Sanshisuimei (The Beauty of Nature), and Dolphin Stadiums. Eating and drinking are not permitted in any other areas. -
Where can I eat the products I purchased at the cafe in the building?
Please use the benches in the Fur Seal, Seal, Sanshisuimei (The Beauty of Nature), and Dolphin Stadiums. Eating and drinking is prohibited in other areas. -
Is there a place where I can look around while holding an umbrella on a rainy day?
You will need an umbrella to explore The Countryside of Kyoto and the open outdoor walkways, but most of the exhibits are indoors or under cover, so you can still enjoy the museum without one.
*The seats at Iruka Stadium are covered, but please be aware that rain may blow in from the side during strong winds. -
Is there anything I can't bring into the building?
Please refrain from viewing the exhibit while carrying large (or long) items such as kick scooters, striders, tricycles, or carry-on bags, as this will cause inconvenience to other visitors. -
Are pets allowed?
Accompaniment to children is not permitted inside the building. -
What kind of experience programs are available?
There are experience programs that require advance application and experience programs that can be applied for on the day.

Are there any services available for guests with children?
There are three nursing rooms with hot water in the building. There are six diaper changing tables (two in two multi-purpose restrooms, one in one women's restroom, and three in two nursing rooms).
The building is equipped with ramps and elevators, so you can move around with a stroller. -
Are assistance dogs such as guide dogs allowed?
You can accompany me. -
Can I make a call over the in-house announcements?
There are no calls made within the building. -
What should I do if my child gets lost?
Please speak to a member of staff nearby. -
Are there strollers available for rental?
No. -
Can I leave my stroller there?
We do not accept strollers. Stroller parking areas are available on the stadium slope (3rd floor) and terrace (2nd floor). -
Do you have wheelchairs available for loan?
We have them available (free of charge). However, please note that the number is limited.
*Please ask a member of staff. Advance reservations are not possible. -
Can I enter with an electric wheelchair with a handle (senior car, senior car)?
Electric wheelchairs with handles (senior cars, senior cars) are not permitted to enter the venue. -
Are the signs in the building available in foreign languages?
We can assist you in English.

About the facilities and equipment

Please tell me the locations and number of toilets, multipurpose rooms, and nursing rooms.
There are four toilets (two on the first floor and two on the second floor, each with a multipurpose room). There are three nursing rooms with hot water (two on the first floor and one on the second floor, the first floor is in the women's toilet). -
Are there coin lockers?
Coin lockers are available for a fee. -
Is there an ATM in the building?
No. Please use a nearby convenience store. -
Are there any smoking areas inside the building?
Smoking is prohibited inside the building. Please use the smoking area in Umekoji Park. -
Is there free Wi-Fi?
Free Wi-Fi is available at Kyoto Aquarium.[Notes on use]- An access key is required to connect. Please check the notices posted in the library for details.
- The museum will not be held responsible for any virus infection, loss of information, or other damage that may occur as a result of using this service.
- Please note that communication speeds may be reduced or connections may not be possible depending on your communication device environment and line congestion.
- The museum cannot provide any support regarding the communication devices you use, the communication terminal environment, or various settings.
- The service may be unavailable due to maintenance, etc.

Regarding photography inside the museum

Can I take photos or videos inside the museum?
Photography for personal enjoyment is permitted.
However, please refrain from the following actions.- Flash photography and lighting photography
- Do not take photographs that cause inconvenience to other customers, such as by shouting or occupying space.
- Shooting using a tripod or auxiliary equipment
- Live Streaming
If you are using the site for commercial or for-profit purposes, please contact us by phone. As a general rule, we do not allow the use of monetized YouTube channels or other video sharing platforms. -
Can I publish the footage on video streaming sites or social media?
- Please refrain from publishing for commercial purposes (including monetized channels).
- Please refrain from publishing any photos that may violate the privacy of customers or specific employees who are not related to the photographer.
- Please refrain from live streaming within the aquarium without permission.

Regarding group use

Can I make a reservation on the date I want?
Depending on the reservation status of your desired date, we may ask you to adjust the date and time. -
What are the general group rates applicable to?
This applies to groups of 20 or more people and when paying in full. -
What is the fee for a tour conductor when the general group rate is applied?
Tour conductors (including bus drivers and photographers) are free of charge. -
What is the definition of a school group and what are the number requirements?
School group rates apply for group use for school events such as field trips and out-of-town learning (reservations required).
Please contact us for details on the scope of application. There are no restrictions on the number of people. -
When the school group rate applies, what is the fee for the accompanying teacher?
Admission is free for accompanying teachers. For universities and vocational schools, there is a limit to the number of teachers who can attend, so please contact us for details. -
Can I inspect the property?
We only accept preview visits if you make a reservation in advance.[Notes when viewing the property]- Free admission for preview visits is limited to group organizers only.
Accompanying persons other than the organizer will be required to pay admission. - Each group will be limited to one site inspection.
