Thank you for the past 10 years. To everyone I met at Kyoto Aquarium.
- Behind the aquarium

Kyoto Aquarium was born in the lush greenery of Umekoji Park as Kyoto City's first urban aquarium.
Thanks to you, we were able to celebrate our 10th birthday on March 14th, 2022.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude for this, which is entirely due to your warm support.
A lot has happened in the last 10 years.
The giant salamander in the "The River of Kyoto" area is a beloved symbol of Kyoto Aquarium.
In 2018, September 9th was designated as "Giant Salamander Day."
The two renovations saw the creation of the large "The Sea of Kyoto" aquarium and the "Kurage Wonder."
It is now a popular area that represents Kyoto Aquarium.
animals were born at Kyoto Aquarium.
Shichijo (Shichijo Street), a African penguin, was born in March 2012, just like the one at Kyoto Aquarium. Shichijo didn't like swimming pools when she was little, but she has grown into a lively girl who loves to swim.
And over the past 10 years, we have seen many smiling faces at Kyoto Aquarium.
The children's smiles sparkle as they watch the dolphins' powerful performance.
The gentle smile of a loved one as they smile at the penguins huddled together.
The nervous smiles of the staff who have realized their dream of becoming zookeepers...
Everyone who has visited us in the past, everyone who will visit in the future, the animals, and the staff are all irreplaceable beings that Kyoto Aquarium is glad to have met.
An aquarium filled with lots of smiles.
To make the aquarium loved by everyone.
With this in mind, we will continue to take steps into the future, both today and in the future.
