Relaxing on the hills,
A dynamic and popular figure in the water
When you think of penguins, you might imagine them living in cold places like Antarctica, but the African penguin, which lives in the southern part of the African continent, lives in warm places.
In the exhibition area, the land is designed to have undulating slopes, making it difficult for the penguins in the water to climb up the hills. This is actually a breeding technique that takes into consideration the penguins' ecology. The penguins use the force of the waves to quickly jump from the sea onto land. Don't miss this wild sight of them.

Build nests to support penguin romance
During the breeding season, Kyoto Aquarium prepares nesting holes for the penguins. In fact, these nesting holes play an important role in helping love come to fruition. The job of building the nest is mainly the male's job. They build a magnificent nest and then propose to the female. In order to give her a bigger nest as a gift, the males collect pebbles and other nesting materials from all over the place and work hard to build the nest.
